Amerock

Amerock Hardware began in Rockford Illinois under the name American Cabinet Hardware Corporation. The founders, Reuben and Gedor Aldeen originally worked for National Lock Company but decided to branch out on their own and then established the American Cabinet Hardware Corporation in the 1930s. They concentrated on giving a unique and decorative look to also functional kitchen and cabinet hardware. Come 1940, the name changed to Amerock (a combination of American and Rockford). By the 1960s they made appliance and window hardware in addition to the cabinet hardware. In 1965 Amerock merged with Stanley Tool Works and in 1973, the division was purchased by Anchor-Hocking. They continued to produce under the Amerock name and even expanded the product lines in the 80s and 90s. The Amerock name continues today, now owned by the Piedmont Hardware group.
