Description

Brittan Graham & Mathes Lotus Doorknob.

Cast iron decorative doorknob made by Brittan Graham & Mathes. Lotus design. Cir. 1890. The design extends to the back of the doorknob. This doorknob also has a unique setup, as the two halves of the knob are held together with two pins at the bottom of the knob. This however, is the original construction method for this doorknob. It does cause the two parts of the knob to be a bit loose, but does not affect functionality. This knob is also affixed to the shaft with a pin. This was a security mechanism, often used for exterior doors. The opposite side of the doorknob shaft also has two threaded holes for the second doorknob. The holes are 2 1/2″ and 2 3/4″ away from the base of the doorknob. This shaft is fixed and cannot be changed without major modification.

Doorknob measures 2 1/4″ diam.
