Description

Taylor & Boggis Lorain Door Plate- Double Keyhole

Oversized cast bronze door plate made by Taylor & Boggis. Lorain design. Cir. 1885-1910. There were a few different versions of the Lorain pattern and this one differs slightly from the one pictured in the catalogue page provided. The plate features Eastlake style heavy decoration and a double keyhole. The double keyhole feature was often used in hotels and apartments where there was a resident key and a master landlord key. The door plate measures 8″h x 2″w. It appears to have some type of modern refinish on it which gives it a gold color. The refinish is well done, so we decided not to remove it.
