Corbin Florence Door Plate

Heavy cast bronze door plate with shaping as well as a leaflike decoration at the top and bottom. Florence design made by Corbin. Cir. 1905. It is marked on the back 09357. The door plate measures 9″l x 2 3/4″w. It has a nice patina.

Corbin

P&F Corbin was founded by brothers Philip and Frank Corbin in New Britain, CT. in 1851. Interestingly, Philip previously worked for the company that would become Russell and Erwin, which Corbin would merge with in 1902. It ran with a number of subsidiary companies in the 1900’s including Corbin Cabinet Lock Co., Corbin Screw Company and even a Corbin Motor Vehicle Corporation! Corbin is still in business today under ownership of Assa Abloy under the name Corbin Russwin.
